WOW is it cold here! Sometimes I really question why we would stay in Winnipeg...we must be crazy. It's roughly -41 here today, it hasn't been this cold in awhile and as far as our winters go it's just getting started.
The car has been stripped down to a bare frame for awhile now. It's been too cold to heat the garage to work on it for any length of time, but we're going to give it a shot this weekend. The motor is sitting at Sturdy waiting patiently for the new Dart Heads to be put on. If you recall I won a $750 certificate from Dart at the 2008 Wissota Banquet(Thanks Dart!!). We're going to switch colors again this year, it's a secret right now! Check back in a month or so for more details.
Last night we FINALLY had a great night! After drawing 98 out of 150 I was sure I wouldn't be starting last...but lo and behold, I lined up last in the last heat! Starting 8th, I quickly learned my raceceiver wasn't working. I had a couple great restarts and finished 3rd! For the feature, I lined up 3rd. I missed my mark one lap and ended up going off of turn 1 but coming back on in turn 2, in 7th place. I was able to move up a couple spot to take my best finish of the year, 4th place! Now that we've got the car working pretty well, we're looking forward to traveling in the coming weeks.
I have finally received the 2009 Donald Motorsports t-shirts! They are even better than last year, featuring a full front and back graphic. I've already sold out of smalls! VERY limited sizing on hoodies remains as well.

After a long cold winter with a lot of snow, and a wet spring, Red River Co-op Speedway looks more like we should be boat racing! We have been told that at the earliest, we will be racing in Winnipeg on June 4th. In the past few days however, a lot of rain has fallen and it’s been hovering around the freezing mark. It is not making for a pleasant spring!
I was lucky enough to be contacted by Lenore Hume, for an interview in the spring of 2008. Lenore Hume is a freelance writer, who frequently writes for Winnipeg Women’s Magazine. The magazine is a great addition to Winnipeg publications. It features unique women of interest in and around Winnipeg, who are contributing to the community, have an interesting story, are entrepreneurs or philanthropists. It was a great experience, and hopefully a real eye opener in regards to the dirt track racing scene in Winnipeg.
